SCI-TECH INNOVATION PORT Urban Design of Huanggang Port Area of Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone 2020

We deconstructed the core elements of the Science and Technology City into three circles: from the center to the periphery: creative space; research and development space; incubation space.
What kind of science and technology cooperation zone should be nurtured between Shenzhen and Hong Kong? The core of the future science and innovation city space lies in how to effectively attract scientific research talents and enterprises. Our team was born at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which has become the most dynamic tech city in the world over the past few decades. Through the study of dozens of science cities around the world, we summarize the elements of a science and innovation city into three spatial structures: thought space, experiment space, and transformation space.

As Professor Frenchman said, the structure of these three circles can be seen in any outstanding science and technology space in the world, and the cognition and innovation of this structure are also integrated into our design. At the core of the circle is the Idea Space. People's thoughts are the foundation of all source innovation. We designed the building group of the Science and Technology Exhibition Center, and a collaborative innovation space system, including the equity trading hall, multi-functional activity center, science and technology library and co-creation spaces all over the park, meditation space, conference room and tech innovation salon. Above the core circle is the Lab Space. The biggest pain point of science and technology companies is the investment of expensive experimental equipment in the early stage of research and development. In order to solve this problem, we propose to build a 70,000-square-meter shared experimental platform, led by the government to provide one-stop service for laboratory hosting and operation for science and technology enterprises, so that they can change from the traditional asset-heavy model to asset-light The model makes the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cooperation Zone the most attractive technology innovation platform in the entire Bay Area - and the courtyard-shaped building can adapt to experimental equipment of various scales in different fields.

The transformation space in the outermost circle enables scientific research results to become useful products through the blessing of enterprises and capital. We have designed high-density tower laboratories and low-density waterfront laboratories to meet the needs of various mature enterprises and scientific research institutions.

The core of the entire park is a green central courtyard. People can exercise and rest here. The underground space of the courtyard is a centralized wastewater treatment facility, where the wastewater discharged from the laboratory can be uniformly treated and fed into the municipal system. A ring corridor connects the entire science and technology platform, like a ring street, people can come to any laboratory through the ring corridor and bridge. Walking among them, through the transparent glass, you can see not only the robotic arms waving up and down, but also the crowds in the green courtyard, and you can also come to the lecture hall in the courtyard to participate in academic activities. The ring gallery itself is also a gathering place for ideas, where people can sit down and discuss new ideas at any time.

Looking back at the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, it is also an intuitive manifestation of the circle structure of the science and technology space. It is like a space station. The endless loop technology innovation platform is the main body of the space station. The form and function of the building can be generated according to the actual needs of the enterprise. In order to allow residents of Shenzhen and Hong Kong to enter and leave the park most conveniently, we have proposed a fence management strategy of "port in and out, deep in and out". Both Shenzhen and Hong Kong residents can access the park from their respective ports without going through the port. Dedicated channel to freely enter and leave the park. This management method will also make the park a unique place between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Enterprises in Shenzhen can have the most convenient access to international financial and legal resources from Hong Kong, and Hong Kong's scientific research results can be transformed here most quickly. At the same time, we innovatively put forward the strategy of ecological purse seine, through the Futian River underdrain restoration project, allowing the water to surround the park, which not only reduces the risk of urban waterlogging, but also provides citizens with a waterfront park with a pleasant scale. The skyline of the entire park is arranged from high to low from north to south. The waterfront of the Shenzhen River has become a low-density wetland park, leaving a natural ecological corridor for the migration of migratory birds.

Every successful exploration of science by human beings is an innovation that breaks through the boundaries of cognition. The Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Cooperation Zone, surrounded by clear water, grows on the border of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and it will become an important link between these two great cities in the future. But here not only integrates the spatial boundaries of the two cities, but more importantly, it brings together the most cutting-edge ideas in the world. Science has no borders. We look forward to this miniature science and technology city, not only in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, but also in the whole world. In the world, it is like a space station surrounding this planet. People from all countries can put down all language and cultural barriers here, and drive scientific spaceships to dock here, under the shade of trees and on the waterfront. Next, write a chapter about tomorrow together.
